The Powassan Voodoos have acquired forward Alexi Rivet from the Kirkland Lake Gold Miners for a development fee, the club announced on Friday.

Rivet, a highly touted player who came out of the New Liskeard Cubs Midget AAA program, recorded 7 goals along with 10 assists for 17 points in 34 games last season with the Gold Miners.

"I am definitely excited to get things going with the Voodoos," stated the 1997 birth year forward.

"They are currently having a great start to season and I hope to be able to contribute further into this streak. Looking forward to having a great run this season."

The Voodoos were recently ranked 11th in the CJHL's rankings which came out on Tuesday.  The Battalion affiliate squad is the lone unbeaten team in the NOJHL, sporting a 6-0 record to start the year.

In other moves recently, the Voodoos moved defenceman Nolan Smith to the Cambridge Winter Hawks of the GOJHL for a development fee and waived forward Ted Davis, who was claimed by the Blind River Beavers last weekend.

Alexi Rivet and the Voodoos are back on the ice Friday night as they travel to Espanola to take on the Express for their only contest on the weekend.
