The Powassan Voodoos continue with a busy off-season with the signing of forward Gabby Kioki from the Timmins Majors.

The 6’1”, 180 pound forward had 12 goals and 11 assists for 23 points in 36 games with the Majors this past season. He was taken in the third round of the U18 OHL Priority Selection by the North Bay Battalion this spring.

“I am pretty thrilled to be able to play for the Powassan Voodoos, I watched them in my hometown of Timmins the past couple years and I am excited to play for them,” said Kioki.

“I am a physical player that can be effective at both ends of the ice and I like to create offence.”

Max Gavin, the Voodoos head coach, got a chance to see Kioki play at a summer prospects tournament in Toronto in June.

“We are thrilled to have Gabby on board with us,” said the rookie head coach.

“He is another great power forward that we will have, the type of guy that can play all situations and contribute everywhere on the ice. Once again a big welcome to Gabby and his family to ours.”

Kioki will join his new teammates and prospects on July 27th and 28th during the Voodoos last summer prospects camp in Powassan before main camp in late August.
