Vision 18UG Golden at Ontario Championship

Vision girls beat the Reach Synergy 25-21, 25-18 in the tournament final.

The Vision Volleyball Club 18UG participated at the Ontario Volleyball Association (OVA), Ontario Championship this past weekend, where the team achieved its golden goal.   

The 3 day event saw teams from all over Ontario travelling to Waterloo to participate. 

The Vision team went into the tournament ranked in Division 1 based on their play all season in Championship Division.

Friday’s games saw the team finish with a 2 and 1 record against Scarborough Titans, Georgian Cubs and Predators Purple.  

Saturday’s re-pool saw the team matched against some tougher competition and they finished Saturday with a 1-2 record.

Sunday’s elimination day had the team starting with a bye to the quarter finals. 

In their first game they faced a local Kitchener team, Predators Purple who had previously defeated the Vision squad on Friday. 

With a win over the Predators on Sunday they faced Impact Volleyball from Georgetown in the semi's.  Vision dominated this match and won both sets 25-11, 25-17. 

The gold medal match was a rematch against a tough Reach Synergy out of Markham. 

Reach had also previously defeated the Vision team on Saturday. 

This time the North Bay team took a commanding lead and didn’t let up. 

The final score of the gold medal game for their tier was a win for Vision 25-21, 25-16.

Vision President, David Culin emphasized the pride the Club has with this team from their beginnings several years ago.

“They have fought hard, added players and become the team they are today," said Culin.  

"This team is the perfect example of the growth we strive for.  We aim for development and improvement from early ages.  We look forward to our many young teams continuing this tradition."

Vision 18UG Head Coach and Club Director of Coaching, Danny Gosselin was very impressed with the girls ability to execute each and every play.  

"They have been practicing all season for this moment and today they made it happen.  I am very proud of this team and their accomplishments," said Gosselin.  

This gold medal caps off an incredible club volleyball career for this group of ladies. 

They have travelled across Ontario, Canada and even into the USA for competitions.
