The East Nipissing Lulu’s Bar & Grill Midget Vipers ended their great season on a winning note.
They took down the Midget NOHA’s, the NDHL Midget East playoffs and the NDHL Regional title all in one week.
The Vipers headed to Kirkland Lake for the Midget NOHA’s on March 17th to 19th weekend. The Vipers defeated Kapuskasing 8-2 in the finals. The team had a great start scoring 4 goals in the first period. Goal scorers included: Will Montgomery 2, Michael Paquet 2, Joel Lamarche 2, Ryan Ouellette and John Champagne. Justin Perron took the win in net.
On Friday Feb 24th, the Vipers battled back from a 2 to 1 deficit to rally for a 4-2 win vs the Mattawa Rockets in the East finals in Mattawa.
Alex Janveaux opened the scoring for the Rockets making it 1-0 in the 1st period. Isiah Rose responded for the Vipers making it 1-1. Nolen Laudriault put the Rockets up again before the end of the 2nd. Early in the 3rd, Ryan Ouellette tied things up for the Vipers. Joel Lamarche put the Vipers ahead 3-2 on a great short handed effort. Travis Desormeau added a empty netter.
In the NDHL super weekend in Mattawa, the Vipers defeated North Bay Mesco 3-0 in the finals on Sunday. Michael Paquet opened the scoring in the 1st for the Vipers. the 2nd period, Ryan Ouellette was taken down on a breakaway and Joel Lamarche took the penalty shot to make it 2-0. John Champagne added the insurance marker in the 3rd. Justin Perron added the shutout in net.
The Vipers had also claimed titles in tourneys in Sturgeon Falls and Kirkland Lake this winter.
