Well it would be pretty ridiculous to go on this week without mentioning the Super Bowl. Now I will not make my prediction, but just my thoughts on the two teams and how they got to the big dance. Also a little bit of ‘Pac Man’, the Leafs, and Tiger.

Well it would be pretty ridiculous to go on this week without mentioning the Super Bowl. Now I will not make my prediction, but just my thoughts on the two teams and how they got to the big dance. Also a little bit of ‘Pac Man’, the Leafs, and Tiger. So without further ado, I shall begin to ramble…

The road to the show…

It is hard to believe that ‘Spygate’ occurred 20 weeks ago and even more difficult to believe is that New England still has not lost. Sure there have been a few close calls along the way, but for the most part the Pats have been, well, perfect. The cast was there for this season to be a great one, although there were questions as to whether or not the team would gel and stay cohesive; they did both. Bill Belichick deserves a ton of credit for keeping this team on the same page, and not letting egos get in the way. As for the Giants, one would have to wonder if they played every game on the road next season if they would go undefeated. You also have to wonder if this playoff season has been the coming of age of Eli Manning people have been waiting for. Most were calling for Manning’s, as well as Head Coach Tom Caughlin’s head after five weeks of the season. However this team stuck together and believed they were better then they were given credit for and the result is a trip to Glendale Arizona. Although both teams took very different roads to get to the dance, they certainly have earned their shot at the title.

I said it before and I’ll say it again

Back on May 13th 2007 I asked the question ”is there a bigger waste of god given talent then Adam ‘Pac Man’ Jones’? At the time he was just messing up his chance to get re-instated into the NFL by getting in trouble with the law right before his hearing to overturn a season long suspension. So here we are eight months later and another re-instatement hearing is on its way. What do I see in the headlines? Woman alleges Adam ‘Pac Man’ Jones punched her at Atlanta strip club. Granted she later withdrew her allegations, but what is this guy doing at a strip club anyway. It is obvious he is never going to learn from his mistakes and the NFL should just do away with him for good. With six arrests in three years; and countless other ‘situations’ he has got himself into, it should be enough evidence that this guy is just a waste of talent.

Leafs land Fletcher, but wrong guy got fired

Although as a Leafs fan I am quite intrigued to see what Cliff Fletcher will do with this team over the next few months, I was also upset to see that it came at the expense of John Ferguson. I will be the first to admit that there were plenty of decisions that I did not agree with that Ferguson made; however one has to wonder what might have been if it were not for the boneheads within the MLSE breathing down his neck every minute. An optimist would believe that Fletcher will have full autonomy over the Leafs after watching his news conference on Tuesday; yet the evidence that was presented clearly indicates otherwise. Check out this clip http://youtube.com/watch?v=uyKQEKWURtI
More specifically pay attention to Richard Peddie at 4:43 and 5:07; because until this guy is out of the picture, things will never change in Leafs nation.

Tiger just made things interesting

It is always special to watch Tiger Woods perform on the golf course. Love him or hate him, he is the best to ever step foot onto a tee box, and this year he is setting his sights on making history. When asked if he believed that a calendar Grand Slam was possible, Tiger responded by saying, “Easily within reason.” When Tiger Woods says something like that, it is hard to ignore it. This is someone who is focused on making history this year and whether or not you are a golf fan, this is a reason to watch. Woods is not one to make bold statements like this, so it is even more reason to believe that he truly thinks that he can accomplish this feat. It is a major schedule that works out well for Woods this year, and he is reportedly in the best shape of his life. So whether you are an avid or a casual fan, when one of the best athletes in the world makes a statement like this, there is no excuse not to see how it turns out.
