WEST FERRIS TROJANS

Note: Assignment not submitted. I will havee to give Head coach Rick Mitchell a LATE on his assignment but on other thoughts I may wave the penalty. Head coach Rick is one of a kind. I guess I can say that for Bruce Cazabon also. Both these gentlemen coached football and now are involved in the hockey wars. Both of their hockey programs had started prior to the end of the football season. How do they do it???

The perennial strong Trojans have basically the same coaching staff as last year. Supporting Rick is John Weber, Dave McMillan and goalie coach Brad Young. Added to the coaching roster is Dave's son Jamie, a recent Trojan graduate and trainer Patrick O'Neil. Looking at the roster, you can notice football standouts Mike MCrudden and Justin Brear.

WIDDIFIELD WILDCATS

After numerous years coaching at the minor hockey level Bruce Cazabon is currently in his second season as the Wildcat head coach. Having worked in several successful minor hockey programs Bruce is priviledged to bring his knowledge to the high school ranks. The Wildcat support staff include Scott Huycke, Paul Yeo, Tim Etmanski and manager Anthony Loretto. Bruce has learned in the past years that a strong and dedicated staff is what you need to be successful. The Wildcats have that staff today. Bruce's support staff includes his wife, Melody, who encouraged him to return to coaching. The coaching staff's hope is to challenge for the Nugget Shield in the near future as the school has not won it in 50 some years.

Knowing that the Wildcats have - third year goalie Jeremy Roy and returning players Justin Huycke, Alain Pouliot, Nathan Etmanski, Cameron Gummo, Tye Sheppard, Ryan Purkhart, DJ Lavictoire and Pat Rideout - the team should be able to compete in the league this year. The rookies added will fair well and if all goes well the team goal is to finish in the upper tier of the league.

TRIVIA

I am adding a few trivia questions to this column. The person with the first set of correct answers will win a season pass to all N.D.A. remaining games for the 2007-2008 season. You will have to submit your answers in writing to me this coming Wednesday evening November 28th. I will be in section 8 at the Gardens watching an N.D.A. doubleheader. Submission must be made between the hours of 7:00 p.m. and 9:00 p.m.
