Used Sports Equipment Fundraiser

The West Ferris Atom A Blades hockey team will be selling used sports equipment on Saturday, October 17th, in the Vested Interest parking lot on McIntyre street w, from 9 a.m. until 2 p.m.

The West Ferris Atom A Blades hockey team will be selling used sports equipment on Saturday, October 17th, in the Vested Interest parking lot on McIntyre street w, from 9 a.m. until 2 p.m.

Close to 20 9 and 10-year-olds (and some of their 40 something year old parents) are putting together a unique fundraiser to help raise funds for their team as well as collecting non-perishable food donations for the well known 5th Annual Coach4food program led by Tom Hedican.

"We thought this was a great way to get the kids involved, have some fun and make second hand sports equipment of all kinds available at very reasonable prices to families right across North Bay," said assistant coach Paul Robillard.

"At the same time, why not use our event to as a drop off location to collect food donations and help Tom break last years total of 60,000 pounds of food donated to our Food Bank?"

Also on hand will be representatives from the Canadore Pond Hockey Face Off taking advance registrations for their 5th annual event scheduled for February 12 -14, 2010 and Skate Sharpening will provided at $5 a pair by a volunteer parent using the revolutionary new mobile, Prosharpe manufactured Skate Pal G3 machine. Baked goods and hot chocolate will also be sold at the event.

"It's all about hockey and we think raising money to help our team with additional ice rentals, skating instruction and skill development WHILE creating awareness for other hockey related causes and activities is great way for our kids to spend a Saturday and learn a thing or two about community involvement at the same time," echoes Team manager Dayle Fairbarn.

Everyone is encouraged to drop off any used sporting equipment of an kind after 8 a.m.on Saturday morning or show up through out the day and support the causes Free 2 hour parking is available at the adjacent parking garage.
