U18 Trappers sweep Flyers; U16s struggle in Sudbury

U18 Trappers offence gets going against the Flyers

The North Bay & District U18 Trappers scored 16 goals in two home victories over the visiting Kapuskasing Flyers.

On Saturday night, the lethal line of Anthony Boyes, Nate Gravelle and Cayden Kowal combined for 9 points in a 7-4 win over the Flyers at Memorial Gardens. 

Kowal and Anthony Boyes had two goals each with single tallies going to Ethan Boyes, Jesse Lefebvre and Joshua Currie.  Mike Purkhart got the win in goal for the Trappers.

Nate Gravelle contributed 4 assists in the win while Damien Lemoyne netted a pair for the Flyers in response. 

On Sunday afternoon Caleb Dawson scored 4 goals and added a pair of assists as the Trappers pulled out a high scoring 9-5 win over the Flyers at the Gardens.

Heath Bradley contributed 2 goals while singles went to Johnny Couch, Davis Anello, and Jesse Lefebvre.  

Lefebvre and Gravelle also added 3 assists each.  Anello added a pair of assists as well in the win as the Trappers scored six times on their lethal power play. 

Kasey Chevalier had three goals for the Flyers. 

Purkhart was in goal for the win as the Trappers improve to 13-5 good for second in the Great North U18 League.  

U16 drop a pair in Sudbury 

Meantime, the North Bay U16 Trappers dropped a pair to the Sudbury U18 Nickel Capitals in Sudbury on the weekend.  

On Saturday, the Trappers were humbled 10-2 by the Nickel Capitals.  Tyler Brunet and Bryden Shank had the goals while Owan Heroux suffered the loss in goal.  

On Sunday, goalie Jackson Curran kept his team into the game as the U16 Trappers fell 3-0 to the U18 Nickel Capitals.  

The loss drops the Trappers to 3-14-0-2-1 on the season.
