The North Bay U18 AAA Trappers are hosting the Great North U18 play-in series this weekend at Memorial Gardens.

The Trappers finished the season with a 19-17 record, but due to a four-game losing skid, the local Great North U18 squad dropped to finish fifth in the final standings.

In a new playoff format, the fifth-place team will host the round-robin event which includes the sixth-place Sudbury U16 AAA Wolves, the Kapuskasing U18 AAA Flyers and the host Trappers.

The Trappers will host the Sudbury Wolves tonight at 8:30 p.m. at Memorial Gardens.

The local squad will play its second round robin game against Kapuskasing at 8 p.m. on Saturday night.

The top two teams will play a final game at 1 p.m. on Sunday at Memorial Gardens.

The winning team will win the right to join the top four Great North U18 teams next weekend at the Tournament of Champions in Sudbury.

Last season the North Bay U18 AAA Trappers claimed the Great North U18 title beating the Soo U18 AAA Greyhounds 8-5 in the final.
