The West Ferris Ringette Association U14 regional team had a very successful 2015-2016.

They opened their season at the Sudbury Invitational Ringette Tournament in November. The team won their first game against Timmins 4-3. They then lost a heartbreaker to Valley East who scored 2 late goals to win 5-3. A victory over Sudbury by a score of 6-3 secured the team a spot in the semi-finals where the team eventually lost 4-2 to Timmins.

The team’s second outing, the “Golden Ring Tournament” was held in Kitchener in February.

The team began the tournament with a 4-3 victory over Dorchester. This was a close game with lots of back and forth action. Unfortunately, the second game was a 5-1 setback to a strong and physical team from‎ Hanover. The players fought hard to the end but Hanover (the eventual tournament champion) outlasted the 63’s for the win. The tournament ended on high note for the team, however, as the team played its most complete game of the season and defeated the host team, Kitchener, 8-2. After the three qualifying games the team ended up in third place, barely missing the finals by a tie breaking differential of two goals.

The team capped off the season by travelling to Sault Ste. Marie for the North East Regional Championships.

The team played well during the round robin with their only setback a 5-2 loss to Timmins. A solid 6-1 win against Sudbury in the semi-finals set up a rematch with Timmins in the gold medal game. The team played hard and, despite falling behind 4-3, the players kept their composure and fought back to win 5-4! Congratulations to all the players, coaches and parents on an excellent season.
