ORLEANS, ON - The 18U North Bay Youth Volleyball Club Blizzard's played in the Bugarski Cup on the weekend. The Blizzard's finished 6 out of 11 teams.

The Blizzard's finished 2nd in Pool B and then advanced to the quarter-finals versus the North Bay Wildcat VC. The Wildcats defeated the Blizzard's 2-1 (19-25, 25-11, 15-6). In pool play the Blizzards split with the Toronto Aces (18-25, 25-18) and Aurora Storm (25-18, 15-25) and then defeated the Toronto Diamonds in straight sets (26-24, 25-17)

In the battle of North Bay, the Blizzard's lead throughout the first set and were able to close out the Wildcats without Caitlin Hebert who left near the end of the first set due to injury. Caitlin Hebert did return in the third set but at that point the Wildcats were too much for the Blizzards.

"Overall we made great strides as a team," said co-coach Carrie Baldwin. "The first set win over the Wildcats was the highlight of the weekend as the girls were determined to beat them. Without Caitlin we had to make several adjustments and in the end we were unable to fill the void. I was really impressed on how the girls never quit and were able to bring their game to another level which we haven't seen all year. This is a good sign as we head in to the last half of the season."

The Blizzard's will now be planning exhibition games to help them prepare for the Provincial Championships that will be held at Rim Park on April 30th to May 2nd.
