Tuesday night was an amazing night on the volleyball court for both the Chippewa Raiders junior and senior teams.
The defending OFSAA champion senior Raiders came in as the underdog in the third and final game with the the best-of-three series knotted at 1-1 against the St. Joseph-Scollard Hall Bears with the deciding contest in Bear territory.
The close match went to a fifth and deciding set where Ben Franz smashed the winner for a 15-12 set victory and another NDA title for the Raiders.
In the fourth set the Raiders withstood two game points to extend the game to a fifth set.
This marks the third straight NDA championship for the Raiders senior team as they get set to host NOSSA on Thursday.
Team members include: Caleb Dawson, Anden Ringuette, Carter Thibodeau, Gavin Thibodeau, Holden Tuckett, Parker Sproule, Kyle Anderson, Vaughan Thomson, Toryn Bieuz, Sam Mitchell, Ben Franz, Ben Mason, and Seamus Gagne. Head coach is Mason Truswell and assistants are Tyler Hampel and Ben Sinclair.
Juniors Raiders Victorious
The Junior Boys' Volleyball team captured the NDA championship in game 3 of the finals Tuesday night at St. Joseph Scollard Hall to start the night of playoff NDA championship volleyball.
After dropping a tough game two on their home court, Chippewa came out with a ton of positive energy and great play leading to a three straight set victory over the Bears.
Coach Craig Nodwell and Coach Richardson were extremely proud of the boys as they worked hard from the start of the season to now culminating in a championship win.
Team members include: Cameron Popp, Seyi Agboola, Evin Kilfoyl, Charlie Smith, Cooper Jackson, Lincoln Thomson, Max McCombie, Caeden O'Connor, Soren Gibson, Ryan Abeysinghe, Gavin Mitchell, Liam Bennett, Aiden Devolin, Cohen Lefebvre, and Drayden Fernandez.
Coaches are Craig Nodwell and Neil Richardson.
