On Saturday both the Junior and Senior teams from Northern and West Ferris travelled to Ivor Wynne Stadium to begin their respective NDA seasons.

In the Junior game both teams started off quickly scoring early. Brad Piper scored first for the Trojans on a short 3 yard run. The convert was unsuccessful. Then Northern's Micheal Brouillette scored on a beautiful 53 yard run play off tackle to even the score at 6-6. The Trojans then hit stride on offence with Dale Valade, Phil Thessen and Brad Piper scoring touchdowns on runs of 6, 24 and respectively. Spencer Brear and Detlev Himmelman caught passes from QB Jake Tougas to score 2 point conversions to give the Trojans 28-6 lead going into the 2nd half. Northern came out strong in 2nd half as they threw the ball effectively with Tyler Cameron hitting his favorite receivers Sam Levac and Ronald Lamond a number of times. Both teams exchanged touchdowns with Northern's Sam Levac catching two touchdowns from Cameron of 48 and 12 yards. Phil Thesen answered on two more long runs of 36 and 44 and Aaron Loot blocked and recovered a punt in the end zone for a TD. Brad Piper added 2 converts to complete the scoring giving the Trojans a 48-18 victory.

The Senior Trojans got off to great start to their season blanking the Braves 29-0. The Trojans score on their 1st 2 possessions mixing up the pass and run. Dave Staniszewski and Mike Small moved the ball effectively early on a series of runs culminating on a short Staniszewski 3 yard run to give the Trojans a 6-0 lead. Tyson Brear added the convert. On the following kickoff Morgan Brown recovered a fumble giving the Trojans great field position. Tyson Brear went to work hitting Dustin Anthony on a 37 yard catch to give the Trojans a 14-0 lead. On their next drive the Defense once again was able to force a turnover this time it was Kory Benoit picking off a Marc St. Onge and giving the Trojans great field position.

Once again, Tyson Brear hit Staniszewski with a beautiful throw and the big guy rambled in from 19 yards out. A high snap to Anthony forced him to run it in from 5 yards to enable the Trojans to score a 2 point conversion and give them a 22-0 lead at the half.

In the 2nd half Northern came out very strong and moved the ball effectively. A strong running attack led by Co- offensive player of the year Cam Rivard enabled the Braves to hold off the Trojans at times in the 2nd half. A late Brear to Anthony hook up of 31 yards enabled the Trojans to score their last TD giving them the victory.

A solid performance from the Trojans "D" preserved the shutout. Justin Brear, Phil Dampier, Nathan Kunkel and Martin Conville were in on numerous tackles for the Green and White.

Next week proves to be very exciting for both the Junior and Senior teams as they play host to the first regular season night game held at the Trojan Alumni Complex against ESCA. Friday Night Lights will be its debut next Friday with the Juniors playing ESCA AT 6:00 PM and the Seniors playing at 8:00 p.m. The Senior game will be televised and broadcasted on Cogeco/CKAT 600.
