The West Ferris Trojans Senior Boys Soccer Team traveled to Lively on Monday to play the St. Benedict Bears of Sudbury in the NOSSA "AA" Soccer Championship game. St. Benedict were gracious hosts allowing the Trojans to jump into an early 1-0 lead just 3 minutes into the game when centre forward Doug McRae hammered home a drive from close in on a beautifully placed corner kick by Sandy Burke. The Bears quickly responded when Mario Marcantognini scored at the 7:00 minute mark. Both sides were held scoreless for the remainder of the half thanks to solid defense and strong goaltending.

The Trojans took the lead in the second half with striker Scott Britton finding the back of the net on another excellent cross from Burke. The Bears were forced to play aggressively in the final ten minutes as they attempted to get the tying goal. Unfortunately for the home side the Trojans took advantage of their situation with Cam Boake scoring two goals at the 37:00 minute mark and the 44:00 minute mark.

Victorious head coach Paul Cook was impressed with the Trojans overall performance in the big game.

"Cory Tester and Mike McCrudden played standout games on defense, while Shayne Karn and Tylor Doell controlled the midfield," said Cook.

The 4-1 victory keeps the Trojans unbeaten record intact as they host the Franco Cite Patriotes this Thursday in the NDA final.
