The West Ferris Trojans began their Senior Boys Basketball season this weekend in the Kawartha Classic in Peterborough. In the 16 team draw they were the only team that competes in AA, as the majority of teams were of AAA and AAAA competition.

In their first game they played Bear Creek out of Barrie and won 48-37. Dustin Anthony led the way with an impressive 29 point performance. Morgan Brown added 13 points.

In the quarter finals they played Ascension from Mississauga who were AAAA quarter finalists at OFSAA and #1 seed at the tournament. The Trojans fell behind early but crawled back to trail only 35-26 at the half. Tough defense in the 2nd half frustrated the very talented team from Mississauga and the Trojans pulled with 6 points in the 4th quarter. Good foul shooting down the stretch gave Ascension a hard fought 67-55 victory. Ascension would go on and play Markham in the Championship final of the Tournament. Dustin Anthony was on fire scoring a game high 34 points while Tyson Brear added 10 points.

In their 3rd game the Trojans played a team from Waterloo and fell 54-39. Anthony and Brown led the way with 19 and 8 points respectively.

The Trojans play a number of Exhibition games next week and then compete in 2 more tournaments before Christmas in North Bay and Barrie. Regular season in NDA starts the week of December 4th.
