Trappers take over top spot (new)

That’s absolutely correct.

The Trappers won a pair of games Friday and Saturday and their 4-2 record and eight points is good enough for top spot in the nine-team league.

And both wins were on the road.

Friday night, they went to Valley East and defeated the Consbec Cobras 4-1

Andre Laperriere was in goal for the Trappers and stopped 27 of 28 shots. The Trappers had 44 shots at Cobra netminder Andrew Gingras.

Adam Avison, Marc Senecal, Philippe Bouffard, power play and Lance McMahon had the goals.

Ryan Mathes replied for the Cobras.

The Trappers were involved in wild game Saturday in Chelmsford and outscored the Rayside-Balfour Sabrecats 9-5.

Mathieu Aube was in goal for North Bay and stopped 29 of 34 shots. Paul Cook started in goal for the Sabrecats, but was injured in the second period and replaced by Joshua Taibassigai. They faced 35 shots.

Josh Ranger had two goals and a pair of assists for North Bay. Senecal and Kody Carnevale had two goals and one assist each.

McMahon, Mitchell Sullivan and Mathieu Thompson had the other goals.

Carnevale and Sullivan had powerplay goals.

Keith Kennedy had two goals for the Sabrecats. Justin Jodouin, Ryan Piche and Scott Smith had the others.

The Trappers are back in action Saturday Oct. 2 at the West Ferris Arena against Sudbury Nickel Capitals. Game time is 7:20 p.m.
