For the third straight year the North Bay &  District Major Midget AAA Trappers will be facing the Sudbury Nickel Capital Wolves in the Great North Midget League finals.

The Trappers swept the Soo Thunderbirds in three straight.  They finished off the series with a 5-2 win in Sault Ste. Marie on Saturday.

Joe Jordan, Gavin Brown, Nathaniel Lalonde, Ben Brunette, and Justin Dauphinais scored in the win while Reece Proulx picked up his third straight win.

With the three straight wins the Trappers remain unbeaten in Great North Midget League regulation and playoff play this season with their combined win streak hitting 39 games.

Meantime the Sudbury Nickel Capital Wolves took four games to dispose of the Kapuskasing Flyers to set up another Sudbury-North Bay final.

“I love the road trip, it is only an hour and a half instead of six and a half,” noted Trappers head coach Guy Blanchard.

“That is a plus and a lot less wear and tear on the players.  I feel that it is going to be a very good series, they have some good affiliate players from the minor midget team and they have always given us a run for our money, even throughout the year.

“It is going to be a very interesting series and the guys better be up for the challenge.  We need to win three games and we need to stay focussed.”

Game one will take place on Saturday night at 7:30 p.m. at Memorial Gardens.  Game two will take place Sunday afternoon in Sudbury.
