Mitchell Davis missed on a penalty shot that would have tied the game in the third period as the North Bay Trappers dropped a 2-1 decision to the Timmins Majors on Sunday afternoon in Timmins.

Nick Huard scored the lone goal for the Trappers who finish a tough stretch of three games in three nights.

It was a good game, everyone played well and I’m happy with their effort,” stated Trappers head coach Beau Moyer after the game noting that the Majors were playing on fresh legs as their last game was on December 23rd while the Trappers played three games in less than three days.

“It was a back and forth game and (Trappers goalie) Tanner Davis gave us a chance to win,” added Moyer.

The Trappers now hold a 5 point lead on the Timmins Majors who are trying to chase the North Bay club for third place in the Great North Midget League. However, the Majors have six games in hand on the Trappers.

The Trappers don’t have much time to rest as they head to the Ottawa area to play in the annual Gatineau Kiwanis Tournament starting on Wednesday.
