U18 Trappers dump U16 Nickel Capitals

On Friday, Will Bourre had the lone marker in a 3-1 road loss to the New Liskeard Cubs in New Liskeard on Friday night.

On Saturday, the U18 Trappers had their first home game since October and they made the most of it as they edged the U16 Sudbury Nickel Capitals 5-3.

Justin Rousseau, Will Bourre, William Tysick, Alex Dubuc and Ethan Boyes scored for the Trappers.

Riley Wolfe contributed a pair of assists in the win.

The win improves the Trappers record overall to 4-4-1-1 in Great North Midget League Action.

U16 Trappers with split in Timmins

On Saturday, the Trappers capitalized on some Timmins Majors turnovers en route to a 6-3 road win at the McIntyre Arena in Timmins.

Jesse Lefebvre led the way with a pair of goals including the game-winner and an empty netter to seal the win.

Lefebvre intercepted a second period pass in the slot and ripped a shot past the Timmins netminder.

Albert Bouley, Heath Bradley, Masen Wray, and Anthony Boyes scored in the win.

Bouley’s goal was the game changer as he finished off a rebound off an impressive rush by Zach Major to even the score at 3-3 in the second period which helped turn the momentum the Trappers' way.

Kaleb Papineau was solid in the road win.

On Sunday it was a much low scoring affair at the Trappers fell 2-1 in overtime.

Marshall McCharles scored on a nice give and go with Caleb Dawson to open the scoring in the first period.

The Majors evened things on a blast by Tucker McConnell-Fritz on the power play to make it 1-1 after 40 minutes.

It stayed that way until midway through 3 on 3 overtime when Bradley Moore slipped a rebound past Michael Purkhart who made a number of key saves in regulation.

The U16 Trappers record now sits at 8-2-0-2 on the season.

The U16 Trappers' next action is next weekend when they travel to Waterloo to take part in the Golden Puck tournament.
