Major Peewee

With no games in three weeks, the North Bay Major Peewee Trappers hosted the Nickel City Sons for their fourth and fifth meetings of the season.

The Sons built up a 2-0 lead but the Trappers were able to battle back and earn a 4-4 tie against the Sons in the opening game.

Brant Romaniuk led the way with two goals while singles went to Andre Mondoux and Simon Toupin.

North Bay was also backstopped with some solid play in goal by Owen Heroux.

Game two on Saturday afternoon was more of a goaltending battle.

However, the Trappers opened the scoring but fell 2-1 to the Sons.  Brier Long had the lone goal in the loss.

Trappers goalie Jackson Curran kept the game close making some key saves throughout the contest.

As the end of the year approaches, North Bay has a chance to finish on a positive note against the Sudbury Wolves this Saturday, December 21 at the West Ferris arena. Game times are 11 a.m. and 5 p.m.

Minor Peewee

The North Bay & District Steve's Premier Pizza Minor Peewee AAA Trappers hosted the Nickel City Sons to three games this weekend.

Game one found the Trappers down by a goal heading into the second.

Trappers winger, Cayden Hill blasted one home after a pass from linemate Hugh Bouley.  Moments later, the Trappers took the lead after Mason Fike rifled a shot from Hill on the wing. The Sons bit back with three to end the second.

Early in the third, defenceman Michael Dech placed a perfect shot from Trappers centre, Ethan Roy, which was tipped in front of the net by Ben Brunton.  Goaltender Terry Bradley held the team in until the end, but the Trappers came up short with a 4-3 loss.

The Trappers took the lead in game two after winger Charlie Hayne beat Sons' goaltender on a one-man rush.  The Trappers held the lead until late in the third, when the Sons came back.  Goaltender Carson Ruddy was credited with the tie, after several game-saving stops. The 1-1 tie was well deserved with the entire Trappers team firing on all cylinders for three periods of play.

Charlie Hayne opened the scoring again for the Trappers in game three, after a pass from linemate Jason Synott.  The Trappers were not able to hold on to the lead, finishing the weekend with a 10-1 loss to the Sons.

The Trappers head into the break after some impressive play, and they will host the Wolves mid-January as the regular season continues.
