Major Peewee

The North Bay Major Peewee AAA Trappers took to the ice this Friday, Oct 25 to take part in the Barrie AAA zone tournament after a three-week hiatus.

The first opponent for the Trappers would be the Oshawa generals and both teams were looking to start the tournament with a win

Penalties were a problem again for the Trappers in this game and would turn out to be the Trappers theme in the tournament but the Trappers pulled off a hard-fought 4-3 win.

Briir Long and Hudson Prisco-Duquette would each pick up a pair of goals. Brant Romaniuk would chip in with 3 helpers with other assists coming from Dugas, Popp, Long and Prisco-Duquette.

Owen Heroux had a strong game in goal for the Trappers.

Later that afternoon the Trappers would face a tougher opponent in the Burlington Eagles.

Down 2-0 and on a penalty kill, Brant Romaniuk fired a puck out of the Trappers Zone and Briir Long picked it up in the neutral zone to go in all alone on a break way and make no mistake going to his backhand beating the goalie to make it 2-1.

With constant pressure and a couple of opportunities in the remaining time as the Trappers pulled their goalie in an attempt to tie the game, but they could not come up with the equalizer.

Jackson Curran was a wall in this battle and stopped more than his share of rubber but the Trappers would fall short in a 3-2 loss.

Things did not get any easier Saturday morning for the Trappers as they faced the #20 ranked home town Barrie Colts.

With a 4-0 loss to the Colts, the Trappers went into their fourth game knowing that there was not much chance to move on in the tournament already having two losses.

In their final game, the Trappers ran into penalty trouble and lost 7-1 to the Brampton 45's

Owen Head would get the only marker for the Trappers.

The Trappers will face off against Nickel City in a doubleheader this weekend at 1:00 and 6:00 in Sturgeon Falls.

Minor Peewee

The Minor Peewee Trappers hosted the Soo this past weekend.  Game one found the Trappers falling to the Soo 5-1, with Charlie Hayne scoring the lone goal for the home team.   In the second contest, Cayden Hill opened the scoring for the game. The Trappers were able to hold off the Greyhounds until the final moments of the game. The game ended in a 4-1 loss for the Trappers.

Wrapping up the weekend, Hugh Boulay was first to put a mark on the board, before the Soo answered back 11 times to bring the third game to a close.

The Trappers travel to Sudbury to fend off the Wolves this coming weekend.
