Tim Hortons Mosquito Stingers make finals

ORILLIA, ON. - The Tim Hortons Stingers took part in the Gander Ross Memorial Select Tournament being held in Orillia this past weekend. The team went undefeated in round robin play.
ORILLIA, ON. - The Tim Hortons Stingers took part in the Gander Ross Memorial Select Tournament being held in Orillia this past weekend. The team went undefeated in round robin play. The Stingers started the weekend with a convincing win over Geulph by a score of 19-9. Adam Styazer pitched two strong innings for the win while Brendan Tessier and Eric Allair cam in to close out the game. The offence was provided by Lucas Nevrencan, Dylan Dale and Alex Martin.

The Stingers next opponent was a very strong team from Newmarket. Zander Morris got the start and with the run support provided by Jordan Pearce, Jake Grasser and Adam Granary the Boys pulled out a 13-9 win.

Barrie was the last obstacle before the final. After a back and forth affair Pearce, Martin and Dale all scored in the 5th inning to tie the game. Nick Cangiano came in to close it out and threw two scoreless innings. With the tie North Bay clinched their division and advanced to Sunday’s Championship Game against the Brampton Red Sox.

North Bay started in the final with Stayzer pitching three strong innings and Tessier scoring early in the game to take the lead. Grasser made Evan Peltier made defensives gems to keep the Stingers on top. The boys were unable to maintain the pace and a more experienced Brampton team Started to take control. The team rallied for two more runs but lost in the end 10-3.

A dip in the pool, great friends and a silver medal from the Championship game all in all not a bad weekend.
