Thunderbirds back in action (new)

Twenty-four athletes from the CFB North Bay Thunderbirds Swim Club recently swam at the NEOR Pre-Provincial Meet #1 and the NEOR Development Meet #1 in Sudbury. The two meets ran simultaneous on the weekend. This swim meet was the first of the season for the swimmers from the region.

Top swimmer for the Thunderbirds in the A Division was 10 year old Sierra McCourt who placed first in 50 Backstroke, 50 Butterfly, 50 Breaststroke and 100 Individual Medley. She also earned second place ribbons in 100 freestyle and 100 Backstroke. Sierra had six personal best times.

Other top swimmers for the T-Birds were Jennifer Piper, 14 who earned two first, two seconds and two thirdd place ribbons. She finished with four personal best times. Other top swimmers were Andrew Palangio, 12 who earned three firstst, and three second place ribbons and earned four personal best times as well as Emma Hives, 12 who earned two firstt place ribbons, a second and a fourth and one personal best time.

The girls 11-12, 200 Freestyle relay of Emma Hives, Sierra McCourt, Megan Menard and Bryanna Penno earned a first place finish as did the Girls 13-14 Freestyle relay team of Meghan Hives, Jennifer Piper, Antoinette Busch and Bryanna Penno.

In the NEOR Development portion of the swim meet, the top swimmer for the team was 10 year old Marissa Rodger who earned two second place ribbons place ribbons in 25 Backstroke and 100 Breaststroke and third in the 100 Individual Medley and a fifth in 100 Freestyle, finishing with four personal best times.

Jennifer Piper, Andrew Palangio, Bryanna Penno and Emma Hives have been chosen for the NEOR Tour Team which will participate in the Youth Cup Dec. 2-52.

The next meet for the Thunderbirds is in two weeks at the Barrie Invitational.
