Thunderbirds achieve their Goal!

Twenty swimmers from the CFB North Bay Thunderbirds Swim Club traveled to Brantford, for the Provincial Division 3 Team Championships (April 21-23/06).
Twenty swimmers from the CFB North Bay Thunderbirds Swim Club traveled to Brantford, for the Provincial Division 3 Team Championships (April 21-23/06). The Team Championships is the big meet of the swim season, where swimmers
“demonstrate the essence of team spirit by competing and supporting fellow team mates.”

The CFB Thunderbirds swim Club had to finish in the top three teams to achieve their goal and move to the Division 2 championships next year. After the Sunday night finals, the team finished comfortably in third position with 401 points, 107 points ahead of their nearest rival and only 83 points out of the top spot. The 20 T-Birds achieved 57 top 8 finishes, 20 top 3 positions and had 8 relays in the top 3 positions and had 79 personal best times.

“This meet was exciting," said Pierre Simard, head coach of the Thunderbirds swim Club. “We were confident our swimmers could face the challenge and they did. They stayed very positive, which led to their success," said Simard.

The team was well represented by Jennifer Piper, Jesse Hives, Sierra McCourt, Bryanna Penno, Jamie Lee Udeschini, Elisha O’Connor, Sydney Hughes, Andrew Palangio, Emma Hives, Jane Ferguson, Megan Hives, Brooklyn Jones, Dylan Jackson, Megan Menard, Jayla Preston, Sierra Guido, Jaydan Jackson, Gregory Katsuno, Constance Leavitt and Taylor Russell.
