Three local pole vaulters heading to OFSAA

Three local pole vaulters got a head start at NOSSA Wednesday finishing in record fashion. The Northern Ontario event takes place Thursday and Friday in Sault Ste.
Three local pole vaulters got a head start at NOSSA Wednesday finishing in record fashion. The Northern Ontario event takes place Thursday and Friday in Sault Ste. Marie, but since the Soo doesn't have Pole Vaulting facilities the event was held Wednesday in Sudbury.

Kevin Finner of St. Joseph-Scollard Hall vaulted to a Senior Boys NOSSA record of 3.51 metres to capture gold. Scollard classmate Lisa Dupont captured gold in the Senior Girls event with a NOSSA record vault of 2.56 metres.

Kaitlin Anderson of Chippewa won gold as well in the Junior Girls event, with a NOSSA record vault of 2.41 metres.

The three golden North Bay athletes will be heading to OFSAA which takes place in Windsor next weekend.

Derek Malkowski Chippewa, Sr. Boys, 2nd place at 3.25m
Phil Hornby, SJSH, Sr Boys, 3rd place at 3.00m
Ian Katsouno, CSS, Sr. Boys, 4th place at 2.85m
