BLIND RIVER, ON. - Brodie Barron scored 3 times - all in the 3rd period - to lead the North Bay Jr. A Trappers to a 8-5 victory over the Blind River Beavers on Saturday night.
The Trappers took over a close game with 4 unanswered goals in the 3rd period to break open a tight 5-4 game after 40 minutes.
“The guys were confident in the third and our veterans stood up and said what we had to do and we did it - Get it deep and grind it out," said Jr. A Trappers head coach Ian Swalucynski.
Morgan Rudiger had 2 goals of his own for the Trappers. Dan Zawacki, Mat Pepin and Jonathon Aubertin had the other goals.
Brett Findlay had 2 goals for the Beavers. Other goal scorers were Grant Paulson, David McCaig and Chad Richard.
With the win the Jr. A Trappers improve to 9-4 on the season.
Michael Mitchell got the win in relief of newcomer netminder Alex Clark who allowed 5 goals on 16 shots in the opening 40 minutes.
The Trappers are back home Sunday to host the Soo Eagles. Game time is 7 p.m. at Memorial Gardens.
