Temiscaming Titans collect 2 weekend wins

The Temiscaming Titans earned four more points in the standings this weekend after dominating their opponents and hitting double digits on the scoresheet in both contests.

Friday evening the Titans crushed the Lumberjacks 11-1 while Saturday they hosted the Mattawa Voyageurs and sent them back down Highway 533 following a 10-4 loss.

Friday night, in Sturgeon Falls Marc-Alain Begin had 2 goals and 3 assists while Nicolas Fournier & Tyler Miller each had 2 goals and 2 assists.

Other Titans goals were by Drew Moffat, Francis Beauregard, Ashton Haley, Cam Moffat & Tanner Miness. Titans netminder Jonathan Goulet, who came in after starter Aaron Boyce received a game misconduct collected three assists.

The Titans outshot the Lumberjacks 52-35.

Titans humble neighbouring Voyageurs

Saturday night playing in front of a large home crowd, the Titans totally dominated every aspect of the game against the Mattawa Voyageurs.

Although the first period ended with the Titans hanging on to a 3-2 lead the rest of the game was all Temiscaming.

Goals in the first were from Ryder Murray, Marc-Alain Begin and Ryan Adams.

Avery Antone & Keaton Gadway replied for Mattawa with the shots favouring the hometown Titans 29-9.

The Titans outscored the visitors 4-1 in the middle period.

Byron Katapaytuk, Justin Norris, Nicolas Fournier and Tyler Miller tallied for the Titans while Thomas Hamilton scored the only Mattawa goal. Shots were 19-11 in favour of the Titans.

The final period saw some more goals, 4 in total with 3 coming from the Titans. But early in the period, after Keeven French had taken a 5 minute major for cross checking a Titans player, Byron Katapaytuk came in to settle the score with French.

This scuffle lasted a good minute or more and at the end French had lost his helmet, jersey, pads and the match. Ryan Adams with his second, Elliot Willetts and Cam Moffat rounded out the scoring for the Titans while Andrew Demarco scored for Mattawa. Shots were 22-7 Titans, overall 70-27.

Game Notes:

- 3 stars were Ryder Murray, Justin Norris and Tyler Miller.
- The Titans last regular season home game is next Friday, February 15th when they will host the Bradford Bulls.

Titans playoffs begin on Feb. 21st

Titans also announced their first round playoff schedule. Home games on Thursday February 21st and Friday February 22nd against the Mattawa Voyageurs.

The series will be a best of five. Should a game 5 be necessary, it will be played in Temiscaming on Tuesday February 26th. Playoff game times will be 8pm.
