Team NOHA doubles Canucks to open OHL Cup

Team NOHA started the OHL Cup off with a solid effort defeating the Elgin-Middlesex Canucks 4-2 in the opening game of the even held at the Scotiabank Pond in Toronto on Monday.  

Lex Lamontagne, from the Kapuskasing Flyers, had two goals, including the game winner, and earned game MVP honours. 

North Bay Trappers forward Benjamin Brunton scored a highlight reel marker as well for Team NOHA and New Liskeard Cubs star forward Logan Rivard supplied the insurance marker into an empty net. 

Assists in this game came off the sticks of Dawson Morris, Ashton Pitawanakwat, and Edan Etheridge.

Sault Ste. Marie's Sebastien Brassard had a strong effort in net stopping 25 of 27. 

Team NOHA will look to continue their strong start with a Tuesday match up against the Mississauga Rebels. Puck drop is 11:30 a.m. 

Team NOHA is made up of players from the Great North U18 League which includes U18 Trappers Brunton, Cameron Lockhart, defenceman Aiden Baharie and goaltender Carson Ruddy.  

Team NOHA is coached by former North Bay U18 Trappers coach Doug Sanders, and Nipissing Lakers assistant coach Cam Peters.

The entire process is being overseen by Jacob Brown, the NOHA's technical director also from North Bay.
