The Thunderbird Swim Club sent 17 swimmers this weekend to Sault Ste. Marie for NEOR #3 meet and 4 swimmers to Ontario Cup/Senior Provincials in Toronto. Five club records were broken and many personal best times were posted.

At the NEOR #3 meet Jesse Hives and Sean Pulyk lead the way with Hives swimming to six 1st and a new club record in the 800 freestyle and Pulyk with five 1st & one 2nd. Kylie Webster, Sydney Hughes, James Gibb, Josh Brost, Gabriel Brind’Amour Riffou, Regan Jackson, Monika Hotson and Talia Preston all swam to several 1st, 2nd & 3rd placings throughout the two day meet. Karyn Busch swam to 5 personal best while Brooke & Michael Bowes, Christa Wright, Evan Lechlitner, Noah Swain & Marie-Eve Gauthier had top ten placings.

The four swimmers who participated at the Ontario Cup swam against many University swimmers throughout Ontario. The competition was strong but all four swimmers rallied to the challenge. Sierra McCourt & Jaydan Jackson posted two new club records each, McCourt in the 100 butterfly & 400 Individual Medley and Jackson in the 100 & 200 backstroke. McCourt placed in the top 25 for the 100 butterfly and Jackson placed 19th in the 200 backstroke. Jaime Udeschini & Dylan Jackson were consistent throughout the 2 day meet with Udeschini posting a personal best in the 400 Individual Medley. The club will now prepare for one of their biggest meets, the Dave Kensit Memorial Championships in February sending 24 swimmers.
