Two members from Apollo gymnastics club, Jen Lavigne and Nathan Swain, competed in the Ontario Provincial championships for power tumbling over the past couple of days. The event took place at Seneca sports center in Toronto.

Nathan Swain, competing in the Novice National division age 15+, was taking his last shot at the Nationals qualifying score of 52.8. Swain hit his first pass with a score of 27.2 and was sitting in second spot going into the final round of competition. Nathan landed his double twisting somersault, which gave him a maximum degree of difficulty and the title of provincial champion. His first place finish and final score of 54.7 also landed him a spot on Team Ontario.

The team will be attending National championships in Calgary, Alberta over the first week of June. Coach Josh Tessier will be attending the event with Swain and he says he's looking forward to seeing Nathan show his worth against the rest of the country.

Jen Lavigne - competing in the provincial level B category - started off the competition with a 7th place finish on her first pass. Lavigne upped her games on her second pass, performing a full twisting back somersault, and placed second spot. Lavigne placed an impressive 5th place on the all around podium. Lavigne has just one more week until she attends Eastern Championships with Team Ontario. The tournament is held in Longueuil, Quebec from May 8th to 13th.
