Stingers in Kanata tourney

In their opening contest the Stingers faced-off against the host Kanata Blazers. The Blazers took an early 2-0 lead in the first. Tyler Kennedy and Jamie Restoule set up Danny Desrochers early in the third to make it 2-1, but that is as close as the Stingers would come. Kanata netted two more goals late in the third to come out on top 4-1. Desrochers was named as the Stingers game star.

In game two of round robin play the Stingers battled hard with the eventual tournament champion Ottawa Valley Silver Seven White, but fell short on the scoreboard losing 3-0. The Silver Seven scored three minutes into the second to break the scoreless tie. The Silver Seven made it 2-0 twenty-five seconds into the third on a 5-on-3 power play and 3-0 thirty-six seconds later on the remaining 5-on-4 power play. Goalie, Kenny Appleby was selected as the Stingers game star. The Stingers were assessed five minor penalties in the second period after falling behind 1-0 and finished with nine minor penalties in the game.

In their final game the Stingers outscored Seaway Valley Rapids 5-0, with Pascal Laperriere picking up the shutout. The Stingers opened the scoring in the second when Restoule and Stephen Mason set up Matt Jemmett. Ryan Wilkinson picked up two goals while Kennedy and Eric Champagne rounded out the Stingers scoring. Courtney Geisler and Cole Filiatrault picked up three assists each. Geisler was named the Stingers game star.

The Stingers roster also includes: Jake Staples, Nick Scott, Matt Salter and Matt Buckley.

The Stingers are entered in the NOHA Tournament of Champions February 29 to March 2 with Sudbury Bulldogs and host Timmins Rampage.
