Stacey, Yung named Nipissing Athletes of the Year

Stacey, a record setting four-time Canadian Colleges Athletic Association (CCAA) All-Canadian and Ontario Colleges Athletic Association (OCAA) championship MVP led the Lakers’ to a perfect 14-0 season and to an OCAA gold medal at the Ontario Volleyball Championships in Barrie. Stacey will leave as one of the most decorated athletes in the history of the OCAA and Nipissing University. Stacey has etched her name in the record books for the following categories; most kills in a season (250), most points in a season (308), best points per game ratio (6.7) and most career kills (831) and most career points (1035).

It was her fourth straight Nipissing female athlete of the year award.

Yung, a two-sport athlete, served as a striker on the men’s soccer team which made it too the playoffs for the second consecutive season. Yung also served a left-side hitter on the volleyball team leading the team in scoring with 146 kills, 19 service aces and nine blocks for an average of 4.36 points per game. For the second consecutive year the men’s volleyball squad qualified for the OCAA championships. Yung was named a second team all-star.

This is Yung’s second consecutive male athlete of the year award.
