Spartans win Consolation title in Belleville

The West Ferris Spartans U17 Juvenile OBA team stumpled out of the gate and were forced in the consolation round in Belleville over the weekend. They lost a heart breaking game to Oakville 55-54 in their first game.

They lost a heart breaking game to Oakville 55-54 in their first game. The Spartans were led by Charlie Hancock who hit a game high 16 including 4 three pointers. Sam Levac and Spencer Brear hit for 13 and 11 respectively.

In their 2nd game they lost to Hamilton 67-57. Jake Tougas led the way with 18 points including four 3 point baskets.

The Spartans won their next game against Mitchell 64-51. Sam Levac hit for 19 points. Brear and Hancock added 11 each. Detlev Himmelman was a monster on the boards chipping in with countless rebounds and 8 points. Other high scorers were Cuncins 5, Curtis Devlin 4 and Puddister 3 points.

In the Consolation final the Spartans defeated Dundas 69-36. Once again, Levac led the team in scoring with 15 points. Hancock added 11, Brear contributed with 9 and Joey Puddister had 8 for the Green and White. Other high scorers were Tougas 7, Himmelman 7, Chris Kangur 5, Michael Cuncins 5, and Tyler Cameron with 3 points.

Sam Levac was named to the All-Star team. The Spartans travel to Newmarket to play in their next tournament April 17-19.
