OSHAWA, ON. - The West Ferris Spartans lost in the quarterfinals at the OBA Championships in Oshawa this weekend. They went 3-0 in pool play defeating Guelph 63-54 in their 1st game. Trailing 30-28 at halftime the Spartans turn things around with an impressive 2nd half outscoring the Phoenix 35-24. Sam Lavac and Charlie Hancock led the way with 21 and 17 points respectively. Brady Facette added 8 points.
In their 2nd game they beat Niagara Falls Red Raiders 49-34. Ten players hit the scoresheet with Tyler Cameron leading the way with 9 points. Curtis Devlin and Charlie Hancock added 8 points each. Michael Cuncins and Facette each scored 5 points.

In their last round robin game, the Spartans played Hamilton and defeated them 72-56. Hancock led the way with 18 points. Levac and Cameron added 12 points each. Detlev Himmelman and Jake Tougas scored 8 and 7 points respectively.

In their quarterfinal the Spartans lost to a team from Oakville 77-65. For some strange reason Oakville were allowed to add a player on Saturday who happened to lead all scorers with 21 points. This player did not play all year and made a huge difference and the Spartans were unable to contain him and subsequently lost the opportunity to make the medal round. Levac and Hancock scored 21 and 19 respectively to lead the Green and White. Facette and Himmelman added 8 points each.

That concludes the OBA season for West Ferris as they finished their season with 14-8 record. They captured the Cambridge tournament and were finalists in Niagara Falls.
