The Sault Ste. Marie North Stars (14-1-1) proved why they are the class of the Great North Midget League. The North Bay Midget AAA Trappers were down 2-0 after 20 minutes but the North Stars opened there arsenal and blasted 7 second period goals past Mitchell Knight en route to a humbling 12-1 victory over the Trappers at West Ferris arena Saturday night.

Brandon Warmington led the North Stars with 3 goals, while Brian Nanne and Matt Zalewski added two each.

Tyler Field had the lone goal for the Trappers who were without regulars Devan Turcotte, Michel Bedard, Casey Restoule and Tanner Davis. The first three were serving suspensions along with head coach John Couch, while starting goalie Tanner Davis is suffering from a concussion.

Mitchell Knight was replaced midway through the third period by affiliate netminder Dustin Hummel.

The Trappers (2-12-1) will be looking to redeem themselves on Sunday afternoon as they entertain the Timmins Majors. Game time is 1:20 at West Ferris arena.
