Joe Trotter scored in overtime to give the The North Bay Skyhawks a 6-5 victory over the league leading Sudbury Junior Wolves at the McClelland arena in Greater Sudbury.

With just over a minute to play in overtime Joe Trotter cut across the Jr. Wolves blueline and fired a low snap shot that snuck by Wolves goalie Darren Rowlandson on the stick side for the game winner.

The Jr. Wolves clawed back into the game in the third period as they erased the Skyhawks 5-3 lead to send the game into overtime.

Justin Roy scored twice while AJ Shiverdecker and Nick Kulas scored the other Skyhawks goals in the victory.

J.F. Houle had a pair for the Jr. Wolves while singles went to Brenden Biedermann, Scott Lavigne and former Skyhawk Chris Pontes.

It's the first win for the Skyhawks this season against the Jr. Wolves who snatched the NOJHL title from the Skyhawks on Memorial Gardens ice in the league finals last April.

The Skyhawks had a 0-4 record in four meetings this season against the Jr. Wolves and had been outscored 24-10 in those four losses.

"All wins are big," said Skyhawks head coach Darren Turcotte about a game that could be looked at as the turning point in what so far has been a tough season for the Skyhawks who are in fifth spot in the seven-team NOJHL.

"It was a good win for the guys and they feel good about it. They were the one team we hadn't beaten this year and to do it in Sudbury is a good sign."
