The North Bay Skyhawks continued their strong road play early in the season as they defeated the Abitibi Eskimos 3-2 in Iroquois Falls on Wednesday night.

"We played a good road game it’s a tougher building to play in the fans are right on top of you,” said Skyhawks head coach Darren Turcotte after the game.

“Our guys played well in the third especially in the last 8 or 10 minutes and we got the job done.”

Cory Park, Justin Roy and Brad Norkum scored for the Skyhawks. Dustin Fummerton added two assists.

Ian Wilson blocked 30 shots in the victory.

Jeremie Dorval and Felix Boutin scored for the Eskimos.

The pads the Skyhawks first place lead to four points (20 overall) over the second place Soo Thunderbirds in the NOJHL standings.

The Skyhawks are becoming "Road Warriors" as have won 4 of their first 6 games away from Memorial Gardens.

“We are playing well right now on the road,” said Turcotte.

“We are waiting for our opportunities and we’ve got some scoring ability - we have about 13 guys with at least one goal – so our scoring is coming from everywhere and we roll our lines for the first two periods and adjust accordingly and we hope to just keep getting better.”

The Skyhawks return to Memorial Gardens for a return match against the Abitibi Eskimos on Friday night. Game time is 7:30 p.m.
