Skyhawks put down Northern Wolves

The North Bay Skyhawks scored five times in the second period en route to a 9-1 thumping of the Sudbury Northern Wolves. The win gives the Skyhawks a 3-1 series lead and a chance to wrap up the best of 7 series on home ice Tuesday night.

The Skyhawks opened the scoring early as David Frawley scored a shorthanded goal less than a minute into the game to give the locals an early 1-0 lead. The Northern Wolves would tie things up in the last minute of the first as Jacques Proulx scored on the powerplay to make it 1-1 after one.

In the second period the Skyhawks flexed their scoring muscles. Alex Ward and Marc Andre Rizk fired home goals less than 30 seconds apart early in the period to set the tone. Tyler Perry, Chase Gallacher and Jon Ryan scored the other second period goals to put this one out of reach, while chasing the Wolves game 3 overtime hero, goalie Paul Pidutti, who allowed 6 goals on 25 shots in two periods of action.

Tyler Perry added another pair in the third to give 3 on the night, while Danny Loach added a single.

Mike Lalande got his first NOJHL playoff win Sunday night, stopping 20 Northern Wolves shots.
