The North Bay Skyhawks continue to prove that they can play with the Sudbury Jr. Wolves. Nick Kulas scored twice to lead the Skyhawks to a convincing 6-3 victory over the NOJHL defending champs on Sunday night.

Scott Faulkner, Brad Hummel, Matt Williams and Chris Van Laren also scored for the Skyhawks in the victory. The win is the Skyhawks third straight in 2007 over the Wolves after the Sudbury squad won the first four meetings of the season against the Skyhawks.

"The guys in the dressing room are learning what their strengths are and what makes their guys tick a little,” said Skyhawks head coach Darren Turcotte.

“We’ve just got to play to not only our strengths but play to their weaknesses.”

The Sudbury Wolves scored all their goals on the specialty teams. Jordan Cheechoo opened the scoring with a shorthanded goal and added a late third period powerplay goal with an extra attacker. Jacob Johnson scored the other Jr. Wolves goal on a first period powerplay.

The win moves the Skyhawks within one point of the fourth place Blind Rivers Beavers with only six regular season games left to play and improves the Skyhawks record to 4 and 2 in the month of February.

The Skyhawks are back in action on Wednesday as they head to Iroquois Falls for a date with the Abitibi Eskimos.
