The North Bay Skyhawks scored five times in the first period and cruised to an easy 7-1 victory over the Abitibi Eskimos in Iroquois Falls Saturday night.

Nick Kulas scored twice with singles going to Ian Carlson, Justin Piquette, Joey Imbeau, Austin Rugal, and Adam Cook.

The Skyhawks chased Eskimos starting goalie Matt Robin who let in five goals on only 10 shots in the opening frame.

Michael Lalande and Dominic Leveille split the duties in half during the club's final regular season game, with Lalande getting credit for the victory.

Bring on the Eskimos!

A Blind River Beavers win over the Northern Michigan Black Bears Saturday night and the Skyhawks win allows the North Bay Skyhawks to finish in third place in the NOJHL with 60 points. Both the Black Bears and Skyhawks finished with 60 points but the Skyhawks finished the season with two more victories than their Northern Michigan counterparts.

That means the Skyhawks will get re-aquainted with the Eskimos as they will be North Bay's "dance partner" in the first round of the NOJHL playoffs.

Game one of the quarter-finals take place at Memorial Gardens on Tuesday night and game two will take place on Friday night.
