Skyhawks edge Stallions in OT

Dustin McCrank scored a powerplay goal at 2:52 of overtime to give the North Bay Skyhawks a 5-4 victory over the Kanata Stallions in the Skyhawks first ever regular season interlocking game against competition from the CJHL.

Chris Pontes, Jon Ryan, Ken Peroff and Ian Carlson also scored for the Skyhawks in Kanata Friday night. Justin Roy, Toby Brune and Alex Ward each added two assists, while Dominic Leveille stopped 34 shots in the victory.

The win moves the Skyhawks above the .500 mark with a 4-3 record on the season, while the struggling Kanata Stallions lost their fifth straight.

The Skyhawks are back on home ice Sunday night as they entertain the Abitibi Eskimos. Game time is 7 p.m. at Memorial Gardens.
