The North Bay Skyhawks rang in a new era on a winning note as they snuck by the Sudbury Junior Wolves 2-1 at the McClelland Arena in Sudbury on Wednesday night.

Dustin Fummerton and AJ Shiverdecker scored for the Skyhawks in the win.

It was the Skyhawks first game since Darren Turcotte stepped down as head coach early last week.

New bench boss Ian Swalucynski, who moved up from assistant to head coach after the change, was pleased with the club's effort in his Skyhawks head coaching debut.

“Basically we did what set out to do,” said Swalucynski.

“We had to be more intense and disciplined - we played in your face hockey.”

Andre Laperriere put in a solid performance in goal to get the victory for the Skyhawks who rebounded nicely after a 4-0 loss on home ice to the same Jr. Wolves last Sunday.
