The North Bay Skyhawks may not have been playing Wednesday but that didn't stop the Soo Thunderbirds from leap-frogging the Skyhawks in the NOJHL standings.
The North Bay Skyhawks may not have been playing Wednesday but that didn't stop the Soo Thunderbirds from leap-frogging the Skyhawks in the NOJHL standings.

Brett Perlini scored in overtime to give the Soo Thunderbirds a 4-3 victory over the Sudbury Jr. Wolves Wednesday night in Sudbury. That win vaulted the Thunderbirds into first place overall in the standings with 71 points - one more than the idle Skyhawks.

The Skyhawks 5-5 record in their last 10 has allowed the Thunderbirds to catch up. The two top teams in the NOJHL will meet up on Saturday at the Steelback Centre. On Friday night the Skyhawks head west to take on the Manitoulin Islanders.
