Alouettes head coach Lui Ricci said it was a character win as they played with a short bench.

"It was a big win for us," said Ricci.

"That puts us in a big game up against Elliot Lake for first place with a game in hand on Elliot Lake."

Alouettes rookie goalie Matt Perry got the win in goal for the Als who face the Elliot Lake Bobcats Sunday night in Verner.
