The Runway Romp Motorcycle Festival is returning the weekend of September 8th & 9th, 2007 to the North Bay Jack Garland Airport for its 7th year. This family event has two days of exciting solo motorcycle and sidecar racing for bikes from the ’50s to the ‘90s. The results of the races will decide the winners of the series championships.

Additional activities include Parade Laps for non-racers on Sunday lunchtime with rides in racing sidecars for the adventurous and Helicopter rides by Helicopters Canada. Programs, souvenir T Shirts and a food and beer concession will be on hand, plus a track announcer to keep visitors informed. Sponsor COGECO North Bay News will be recording Sunday’s racing action. Saturday evening many racers and crews will enjoy the cruise on the Chief Commanda II.

The event is organized by the Vintage Road Racing Association (VRRA), North Bay Cycle and Sport and many local volunteers. The “Romp” is the fourth and last race in the VRRA’s annual series championship, two other events are held in Ontario and one in Quebec. Organizers say local riders such as Jody Pearce, Tim Voyer, Marc Etier and others will be competing.

“All the riders and crews like the friendly reception North Bay gives them, it is a most enjoyable location to end our racing season," said race organizer Peter Sheppard.

Admission is $10.00 per day and children 12 and under are free with an adult. No pets please. Free parking. Gates open 9:00 a.m. each day.
