The Temiscaming Royals won their first game in franchise history as they defeated the Muskoka Shield 4-3 in Greater Metro Junior Hockey League pre-season action in Temiscaming Wednesday night.

The Royals scored a pair of shorthanded goals and head coach Steve McCharles felt the team played well in its first game together.

Their first regular season game takes place on Friday as they travel to Verner to take on the Nipissing Alouettes. Game time is 8:00 p.m.
