The Temiscaming Royals have made a pair of signings recently including 2007 first round draft pick Chris Hebert. The forward who played last year with the North Bay Trappers is a key signing for the new Greater Metro Junior A franchise.

“We believe, with some work on developing Chris as a complete player, he has the ability to be a good one,” said Royals coach and G.M. Steve McCharles.

“He is definitely a natural good scorer.”

Hebert accumulated 10 goals and added 20 assists good for 30 points in 30 regular season games last year in his first season of Midget AAA hockey.

The Royals also announced they have signed 16 year old defenceman Felix Gilbert. McCharles says Gilbert has passed up invitations to Drummondville and Victoriaville of the QMJHL to sign with the Royals.

“Felix is big, strong and very skilled,” McCharles said about his new signing.

“He’s also a good skater, he moves and shoots the puck well and sees the ice very well.”

The Royals have also added Hockey video consultant Chris Dawson to the team.

Through his North Bay TV production company, Dawstar Freelancing, he has also done scouting videos for various levels of junior and professional hockey including the North Bay Centennials, Dallas Stars and Detroit Red Wings.

In 2006, using a network of videographers across Canada, Dawson (BayToday.ca's Sport Director) began creating a video hockey prospects archive for the International Scouting Service which can be viewed at www.isshockey.com

Using Dawson’s video expertise the Temiscaming Royals hope to utilize the video component through individual player scouting videos to help market its players across North America.
