Royals earn road win

BLIND RIVER, ON - Less than 24 hours following their 5-3 loss to the Jr. 'A' Trappers, the Royals were on the road for a Saturday night tilt with the Blind River Beavers.
BLIND RIVER, ON - Less than 24 hours following their 5-3 loss to the Jr. 'A' Trappers, the Royals were on the road for a Saturday night tilt with the Blind River Beavers.

The Royals(1-1-1) played a solid game and left Blind River with 2 points in the win column by doubling the home town Beavers 4-2 in front of 252 at the Blind River Community Centre.

After a scoreless first period, the Beavers Nathan MacLeod got the scoring started with a power play marker at 1:35 of the second. Andre Leclair, with an assist from Cole Workman, tied the score about 6 minutes later. With less than 4 minutes in the second Drew MacMillan gave the Beavers their second lead of the night.

The third period belonged to the Royals as they scored three times. At :32 seconds Robin Mendelsohn tied the score. Newly acquired Christopher Saganash made an impression in his debut scoring the eventual winning goal with assist from Jean-Michel Naud. With less than 2 minutes in regulation Cole Workman, on a power play, sealed the win for the Royals. Coach/G.M. Steve McCharles was impressed with the team as they battled hard for 60 minutes.

"We're playing hard every shift, every period," said McCharles.

"When you do this, good things happen and that was proven tonight."

Next for the Royals a short drive for a Sunday afternoon game against the Manitoulin Islanders.
