Ramsay started the sport at a young age by joining the local Norsemen Weightlifting club coached by Larry Sheppard.

The last North Bay athlete to represent Canada at the Pan Am games was sprinter Adam Newton. He was part of Canada’s 4 x 100 M men’s relay team that won silver in Windsor, Ontario back in the summer of 2005.
