The Chippewa Raiders senior girls played at the West Ferris gym last night and came away with a 48-26 win.

The two teams played fairly even in the first quarter as it ended 13-10 in the Raiders favour. Aaron Paibomsai scored 2 three pointers and added another 2 buckets for 10 first quarter points. Not to be out done was the Raider's Sarah Loreto, who scored 7 points in the first and added another 14 points in the second quarter allowing the Raiders to pull away into a 30-14 lead at half.

The lack of scoring on the Lady Trojans part in that second quarter combined with a poor 1 for 14 from the foul line was their demise as they played the Raiders even the rest of the way. Sarah Loreto led all scorers with 27 points followed by Kathleen Browse who added 8 points and Sam Loreto with 2 three-point buckets for 6 points. For the Trojans, they were led by Aaron Paibomsai with 10 points.

Jr. Lady Trojans slip by Raiders

The Junior Lady Trojans survived a late 4th quarter surge by the Raiders last night and were able to outlast them winning 35-32 on a lay-up by Lucy Millar. Jumping out to an 11-3 lead in the first quarter allowed the Trojans a bit of a cushion as they played even with the Raiders, both teams posting 10 points apiece in the second quarter. With the score 21-13 going into the half the Trojans scored another 9 points to the Raiders 6 setting up what some might have thought would have been easy sailing for the Lady Trojans. However the Raiders had other thoughts in mind and continued to chip away at the Ferris team's lead. Outscoring the Trojans 13-5 in the final frame the Raiders had all the fans on the edges of their seats. It wasn't until the last half minute when Millar scored a layup to seal the deal for the Lady Trojans. An exciting end to an exciting game for both teams. Top scorers for the Raiders were Jenny Kuehni, Caitlin Hebert, and Amanda Leung each with 6 points. On the Lady Trojans side they were led by Jen Leckie with 10 points, Lucy Millar with 8 and Katie Sargent and Brittany Inthof each added 4.
